About Us

Prof. A.S.Khanna. born on September 15, 1952, in Delhi, did his Masters in Chemistry from Delhi University and then joined BARC, Bombay in 1974. After finishing one year training program at BARC, he was deputed as Scientist to Indira Gandhi Centre for Atomic Research, (IGCAR) Kalpakkam Tamilnadu.

He was at IGCAR for 15 years. During this period, he was deputed by IIT Kanpur to do Masters in Metallurgical Engineering and did his Ph.D in Metallurgy from Madras University. He was then selected for three prestigious International Programs, Humboldt Fellow at Germany, Post Doc fellow at Leister University, UK and also fellow, Royal Norwegian Institute of Science & Technology, Oslo. Back in 1989 from Germany, he resigned from IGCAR and joined as Associate Professor in Corrosion Science & Engineering at IIT Bombay which was merged in 2009 to Metallurgical Engineering Department.

He is full Professor Since 1998. He just retired on June 30, 2018 and now involved in several consultancy and sponsored projects as Director of Surface Engineering and Coating Consultant Company Another achievement of Prof. Khanna is that out of 27 Ph.D’s he has brought atleast two of these works into two companies:

  • which is promoting an innovative Heat reflecting coating which drastically decreases the temperature in the roof top houses thereby reducing electricity requirement and thus saving carbon footprints and hence helping in reducing Global warming. www.thermacool.in
  • - was founded in July 2004, as a non-profit professional society conc- erned with the use of coatings to protect industrial steel structures. SSPC India: The Society for Surface Protective Coatings serves its members and advances the Industry through standards, regulatory advocacy, education and information exchange. www.sspcindia.org
  • - Testing and evaluation is one of the most important part of materials utilization in various industrial applications . Material specification, material characterization, material behavior and its performance evaluation is the first step in any utility application www.secclab.com
  • - After working for more than 40 years in the field of Surface Engineering & Corrosion Protection, and having contributed so much to the subject, Prof.A .S.Khanna from IIT Bombay, www.askendowmentfund.com
